HANNIBAL, Mo. --Darrell Eugene Miller, 69, of Hannibal, died at 4:14 p.m. Wednesday (July 17, 2013) in Harry S. Truman Veterans
Memorial Hospital, Columbia.
Mr. Miller was born Feb. 1, 1944, in Quincy, Ill., a son of Eugene M. and Nellie McCleery Miller. He was married to Glenna Palmer on April 23, 1982, in Hannibal. She died July 21, 2009.
Mr. Miller was a U.S. Army
veteran serving during the Vietnam War
. He worked as a construction laborer with Local Union No. 424.
Mr. Miller enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a faithful caregiver to his dogs, which he deeply loved. Darrell also loved being with his family and his grandkids.
He liked barbecues and was a talented cook who made the best chili. He was a Christian by faith.
Survivors include three children, Kimberly Epley (Donald) of Payson, Ill., Katheren Thomure (Kent) of New London, and Darrell L. Miller (Cathy) of Kinderhook, Ill.; one brother, Harold Miller of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Crystal Zehnle (Michael), Morgan Epley, Dylan Epley, Corey Thomure (Ellen), Kyle Thomure (Brooke), Courtney Thomure and Shane Miller; and three great-grandchildren, Rhylan Zehnle, Sarah Thomure and Tanner Thomure.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Stice.
SERVICES: Private graveside services and burial will be at Grand View Burial Park.
Honorary pallbearers will be Duke Palmer, Darren Epperson, Steve Dudding, Donnie McLeod, Jimmy Palmer and Mike Charlton.
VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with full military honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55, in the James O'Donnell Funeral Home, Hannibal.
