Don Pruett, 82, of 3911 Evergreen North, Quincy, died at 11:07 p.m. Saturday (March 8, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.
He was born July 11, 1931, in Knox County, Mo., a son of Virgil and Mildred Hathaway Pruett. He married Reba Culp on June 9, 1962. She died June 16, 1986. On April 21, 1989, he married Nellie Carlson in Quincy. She survives.
Don served in the U.S. Army in Korea. He was employed by Brower Manufacturing, Electric Wheel and Titan Wheel, from which he retired on May 1, 1994.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughter, Deborah Pruett of Quincy; his son, Richard Pruett of Quincy; three stepchildren, Larry (Sue) Culp of Decatur, Judith (Rick) Baldwin of Mesa, Ariz., and Nancy Nettles of Kansas City, Mo.; six stepgrandchildren, Tully (Melinda) Culp of Indianapolis, Justin (Sasha) Culp of Decatur, Scarlett (Darryl) Buchwald of Wheeling, Linda (David) Parker of Cavot, Ark., Jackie Nettles of Overland Park, Mo., and Michael (Sachiko) Nettles of Des Moines, Iowa; six stepgreat-grandchildren, Jessica Parker of Cavot, Brett (Krysta) Parker of Fort Stewart, Ga., Maxwell and Amberlyn Culp of Indianapolis, and Gracyn and Everleigh Buchwald of Wheeling; and his brother, Kenneth Pruett of St. Charles, Mo.
He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Pruett; his parents; and his sister, Carlene Hinton.
SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rod Bakker conducting. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, Blessing Foundation for Hospice or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
