LEWISTOWN, Mo. -- Donald Baker Myers, 95, of Lewistown, died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday (March 6, 2014) in Country Aire Retirement Estates, Lewistown.
A son of Orval Baker and May Levengood Myers, he was born July 21, 1918, north of LaBelle.
Donald attended Walker School, Glaves School and Overton School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II
and was awarded two Bronze Stars
and the Purple Heart
. He lived and farmed all his life in the Benjamin Community near Canton. He moved to Lewistown in December 2010.
He is survived by two brothers, Norman Paul Myers and Cecil Sherwood Myers, of Lewistown; nieces and nephews, Stephen (Linda) Young of California, Ronald (Jean) Young of Indiana, Bruce (Karen) Young of Illinois, Karen (Scott) Lane of Ohio, Carla (G.B.) Tadlock, Dana (Grace) Myers, Lisa (Kevin) Peterson and Vaughn Myers, all of Iowa, Craig Myers of Kansas, Barbara Key of Williamstown and Wayne (Rita) Myers, Diane (Terry) Seals and Gerald Myers, all of Lewistown; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Eleanor (Jim) Young; two brothers, Delmar Francis Myers and Earl Ray Myers; a sister-in-law, Norma Jean Myers; and a niece, Mary Evelyn Deeder.
SERVICES: 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Arnold's Funeral Home, Lewistown, with the Rev. Rod Webster conducting. Burial will be in Lewistown Cemetery with military graveside honors by Lewis County Memorial Post 578.
Pallbearers will be Terry Seals, Vaughn Myers, Troy Seals, Brett Seals, Carroll Hoffman and Dan Handy.
VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
