Dorothea M. Piper

Dorothea M. Piper, 86, of Hollister, Mo., formerly of Quincy, died Sunday (Dec. 30, 2012) in her home.

Dorothea Mildred Piper was born on Sept. 8, 1926, in Quincy. She was the daughter of John and Pauline Hufendick Schild.

Dorothea attended Irving Elementary School in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High School.

She married Parke T. Piper on Sept. 27, 1947, in Peoria and they had celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past fall.

Dorothea was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ for more than 86 years. She had worked at Kirlin's Hallmark as the candy department manager. She was a charter member of the Precious Moments Club and a member of the Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Club, Cherished Teddies Club, M.I. Hummel Club, Memories of Yesterday Collector's Society, Steiff Club and the Ozarks Ornament Club. Dorothea was also a past president of the Fireside Club, an avid bowler and a former member of the Quincy Moose Lodge.

Dorothea and Parke moved to Hollister in 2007 from Illinois.

Dorothea was preceded in death by her parents, John and Pauline Schild; her daughter, Shirley Jo Albright; and brothers, Eugene "Willie" Schild, Robert Schild and Paul Schild.

She is survived by her loving husband, Parke Piper of Hollister; her daughter, Barbara Sue (L. David) Aeschliman of Hollister; a son-in-law, Bruce (Kathy) Albright of Quincy; four grandchildren, D. Todd Aeschliman of Hollister, Mark E. Stroud of Hollister, John Cory Piper-Albright and Lauren Elise (Joe) Damon; and five great-grandchildren, Madeleine Albright, Maxwell Albright, Elise Damon, Kristin Damon and Meredith Albright, all of Quincy.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday in the Branson United Methodist Church, with Pastor Ross Fulton officiating. A luncheon was held following the service at noon at Branson United Methodist Church. A second service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Quincy, with the Rev. Tim White officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy. Preceding the Saturday service at Trinity United Church will be a luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church. A reception will be held in the church from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

VISITATION: Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until time of the service in Trinity United Church of Christ.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Trinity United Church of Christ in Dorothea's memory.
