Mrs. Eleanor P. Hilgenbrinck, 87, of Quincy, died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 18, 2012) in the Good Samaritan Home.
Born Oct. 2, 1925, at home near East Hannibal, Levee Township, Pike County, Ill., she was the daughter of William Harry and Ruth Babb Peters. She married Donald Hilgenbrinck on Aug. 12, 1956, in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Quincy. He survives.
Eleanor attended grade school at Bird Slough for eight years, one year at Kinderhook High School and then graduated from Hull High School in 1943.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Mendon Homemakers and Mendon Eastern Star and participated in other community activities.
Eleanor enjoyed her family and friends and especially loved having Christmas with her grandchildren.
She worked in Hannibal at J.C.Penney, the Hannibal Rubber Plant and later as a clerk at the Sonnenberg's Department Store. After moving to Quincy she was a secretary at Tenk Hardware.
Survivors include her husband, Donald; a son, Donald J. Hilgenbrinck and his wife, Emy, of Quincy; three grandchildren, Jessica Hilgenbrinck of Milwaukee, WIis., Luke Hilgenbrinck of Kirksville, Mo., and Chad Hilgenbrinck who is a student at Northwestern University
; a sister, Ruth Cole of Hull; two brothers, William J. Peters and Lester L. Peters of Hannibal, Mo.; a special cousin, Mary Riester of Belleville; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Peters of Quincy, Joyce Peters of Hannibal, Mo., and Geraldine Foust of Palmyra, Mo.; and two brothers-in-law, Robert Hilgenbrinck (Mary) and William Hilgenbrinck (Janet), both of Ursa. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and special friends, Joe and Marilyn Meyer of Quincy.
Mrs. Hilgenbrinck was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Joseph Peters and Louis Fredrick Peters; and three sisters-in-law, Garnette Peters, Betty Peters and Marilyn Starman.
SERVICES: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
VISITATION: Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until time of the service in the funeral home.
