Erma E. Foster Ferell

PALMYRA, Mo. -- Erma E. Foster Ferell, 95, of Palmyra, died at 6:20 a.m. Monday (April 7, 2014) in the Maple Lawn Nursing Home, Palmyra.

Mrs. Ferell was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Nebo, Ill., to Claude Oren and Minnie May Sternes Sidwell. She was married on April 24, 1937, to Burdett W. Foster. He died April 3, 1970. She later married William Ferell on April 26, 1990. He died April 29, 1991.

Mrs. Ferell worked for Bluff Shoe Factory and International Shoe Factory in Hannibal. Erma retired from Crown Shoe Factory in Palmyra in 1983. She was a member of Clover Road Christian Church in Hannibal. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her flowers. She also liked cooking and spending time with her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Stuart (Terry) of Quincy, Ill.; one daughter-in-law, Pat Foster, of Godfrey, Ill.; four grandchildren, Kim Dodson of Fenton; Jeff Foster of Alton, Ill., Tim Foster (Samantha) of Godfrey, Ill., and Christy Lovegreen (Robert) of Palmyra; five great-grandchildren, Josh and Katelyn Dodson, Mikaela Foster and Andrew and Ashton Lovegreen.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles "Gene" Foster; two sisters, Fern Hall and Wanda Richmond; one brother, John O. Sidwell; and two grandchildren, Christina and Cathryn Stuart.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Thursday in the James O'Donnell Funeral Home, Hannibal, with the Rev. Tim Goodman conducting. Burial will be in Nebo Cemetery, Nebo. Pallbearers will be Bob Hall, Gary Hall, Gerald Sidwell, Tim Foster, Jeff Foster and Ed Howard.

VISITATION: 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Children's Hospital, St. Louis, in care of the funeral home.
