Evelyn Mae Starner, 79, of Loveland, Colo., died Friday (Sept. 13, 2013) near her home at Cedar Cove, Colo., in the Big Thompson Canyon, west of Loveland.
She was born Nov. 11, 1933, in Osceola, Mo., and attended Osceola High School. She married Gerald Starner on July 26, 1951, in Bentonville, Ark.
Evelyn was a restorative aid in the rehabilitation department at the Good Samaritan Village in Loveland, where she worked since February 1990. Before that she worked 10 years as a CNA at Kenton Manor in Greeley, Colo. Prior to moving to Colorado, as a former resident of Belton, Mo., she worked for Solo Cup Co. in quality control. In 2000, she was chosen as Good Samaritan Society's CNA of the year. She was selected from 250 Good Samaritan centers in 25 states.
She loved her family, the mountains and especially the beauty of the canyon. When not reading, she was outdoors camping, traveling, hiking or walking her dog, Sheba. Her family and friends remember her as an independent, selfless, compassionate person always doing for others.
