GRIGGSVILLE, Ill. -- Freida L. Miller, 91, of Griggsville, died Monday (July 29, 2013) in Illini Community Hospital.
She was born July 21, 1922, near Time, a daughter of the late James and Vada Long Goldman. She married William S. "Sam" Miller on Sept. 11, 1939, in Macon, Mo. He died Aug. 24, 2003.
Mrs. Miller was a homemaker, caring for her family. She enjoyed animals, gardening, tending flowers and playing guitar, and she was well known for her yodeling.
Surviving are her eight children, Judy Smith of Kinderhook, Nancy Miller of Quincy, Linda Shaffer of Roodhouse, Dianna (Bill) Garrett of Mount Sterling, Sonny (Teresa) Miller of Hannibal, Mo., Bob (Chris) Miller of Sheffield Village, Ohio, John David Miller of Quincy and Tom (Susan) Miller of Griggsville. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; sisters, Fanny Rickords and Gladys Peer; and brothers, John Monroe Goldman and Earl "Bud" Goldman.
SERVICES: 11 a.m. Friday in the Airsman-Hires Chapel, Griggsville. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.
VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
