Harold L. Tate

KEOKUK, Iowa -- Harold L. Tate, 80, of Keokuk, formerly of La Grange, Mo., died Friday (April 26, 2013) in the River Hills Village Nursing Home in Keokuk.

He was born Sept. 22, 1932, in Hannibal, Mo., a son of Theodore and Mary Etta Douglas Tate. He married Osceola M. Campbell in September 1969. She died June 11, 2004.

Harold was retired from Gardner Denver in LaGrange, working there from 1952 until 1994. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Julie (Donnie) Dade of Hamilton, Ill., and Debbie Tate and Mrs. Valerie (Carlos) Buckner, both of Keokuk; son, Gary (Beverly) Tate of Canton, Mo.; stepchildren, Mrs. Quetta (James) McCane of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Mrs. Beverly (Bobby) Babers of Rock Island, Ill., Arlene, Darlene and Lonnie Hickman, all of LaGrange, Calvin Hickman Jr. of Quincy, Ill., and Jerry Hickman of California; grandchildren, Vicky Murphy, Dawn Dade, Devon Dade, Jeffrey Tate, Valencia Tate, Delesia Tate, Rochel Henry, Cory Gay and Jeffrey Allen; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Jerry Skinner of St. Louis; one niece, Margaret Stanton of St. Louis; and one nephew, Billy Buckner of Fayettville, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one sister, Etta May Buckner; and one nephew, Dana Skinner.

SERVICES: 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Davis Funeral Home, LaGrange, Mo., with the Rev. Jeff Brown conducting. Burial with military honors will be in Memorial Cemetery, LaGrange.

VISITATION: 11 a.m. until time of services Wednesday in the funeral home.
