Harvey White Jr., 83, of Quincy, died at 9:44 p.m. Friday (Nov. 9, 2012) in his home.
Born Jan. 18, 1929, in Grenada, Miss., Harvey was the son of Harve and Beatrice Petty White.
Harvey served his country in the Korean War
receiving several medals. He enjoyed fishing, mushrooming, gardening and hunting, especially coon hunting. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and driving through the city parks.
Harvey worked at Electric Wheel Division of Firestone for more than 30 years, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin McChristy, and one son, William Harvey White, both of Quincy; two grandchildren, Ryan McChristy and Rhea McChristy, both of Quincy; three great-grandchildren, Bailey McChristy, Tyson McChristy and Evan Wakefield, all of Quincy. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. White was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, J.W. White, James R. White, Arlee White, J.C. White, an infant brother C.W. White; three sisters, Bernice Cole, Vastie Anthony and an infant sister, Joyce White.
SERVICES: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Disseler officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery with full military honors by Quincy American Legion Post No. 37
VISITATION: Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
MEMORIALS: Great-grandchildren's education fund.
