Helen M. Lowary, 82, of Quincy, died at 1:55 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 21, 2013) in Blessing Hospital.
She was born Jan. 24, 1930, in Milan, Mo., a daughter of Raymond Willis and Bertha Beatrice Long Helms. On July 11, 1953, she married Edgar J. Lowary in Pittsfield. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1989.
Helen was a home maker for many years. She then worked at Motorola for 10 years until its closing, and later spent many years volunteering for Blessing Hospice. She was a member of Faith Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat Lowary and Diana (Rollie) Moore, both of Quincy; a son, James (Maureen) Lowary of Columbia, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Lowary of Quincy; four grandchildren, Robert and Ryan Moore, both of Quincy, Melissa Lowary of Columbia, Mo. and Miriam (Bernie) Denton, Columbia, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Abigail and Kaci Denton and Emily and Alaura Moore; several nieces and nephews, including Julie (John) Kostecki of St. Louis, Mo., Jeff Roidl of Quincy and Rod (Kathy) and Steve Vahle, both of Sacramento, Calif.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Harold Haden Lowary; twin brothers, Vernon and Verlon Helms; two sisters, Velma Griggs and Wanda Kidd; and a granddaughter-in-law, Shannon Moore.
SERVICES: 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Pratt conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
VISITATION: 1-2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
MEMORIALS: Faith Christian Church.
