LEWISTOWN, Mo. -- Jerad Austin Childress, 30, of near Auxvasse, died Sunday (May 19, 2013) at his home.
He was the third son of Dr. Herbert E. "Gene" Childress and Peggy Jane Smith Childress. He was born on June 17, 1982, in Kirksville.
Jerad graduated from Lewis County Highland High School in May of 2001. Jerad kept classmates, teachers and everyone guessing what color of hair he would have the next week. Jerad went to University of Missouri for a couple of years, but ended up graduating from Culver-Stockton College in 2007. Jerad enjoyed his college years, changing majors many times, but ended up with a degree in biology.
He is survived by his partner, Randall Gilman of Auxvasse; his parents; two brothers, Christopher Childress and wife, Monica, of Alexandria, Va., and Nathan Childress and wife, Amanda, of Lewistown; five nephews, Caleb, Dalton, Bradyn and Asher of Alexandria and Reece of Lewistown; a niece, Jordan Jepson of Platte City; grandmother, Pauline Childress of Country Aire Retirement Estates of Lewistown; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jerad was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Betty Smith, and his paternal grandfather, Austin H. "Herb" Childress.
He was taken early and sorely missed by family and friends.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday in the Freedom In Christ Church in Lewistown, with Pastor Jason Geisendorfer officiating. Burial will be in Durham Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Childress, Nathan Childress, Wes Sharpe, Brad Sharpe, Londale Shroeder and Cody Doscher.
VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Arnold's Funeral Home in Lewistown.
