John L. Morrill

WEST POINT, Ill. -- John L. Morrill, 62, of West Point, died Friday (Nov. 30, 2012) in his home.

John was born Dec. 30, 1949, in Timewell, to the late Junior Frank Morrill and Fern Lambert Emery. He married Linda J. Rampley on March 15, 1969, in Loraine Christian Church in Loraine. Linda survives of West Point.

John graduated from Unity High School in Mendon. He farmed for several people throughout the years in both Adams and Hancock counties. John dearly loved his two dogs, Skip and Zoe. He enjoyed working on lawn mowers, mushroom hunting, visiting with friends and doing work with his Kubota tractor.

In addition to his wife, John leaves a legacy of three children, Angela (Mark) Stump of Kahoka, Mo., Allen (Jolene) Morrill of West Point and Amber (Patrick) Myers of Mendon; eight grandchildren, Seth, Caleb and Noah Stump of Kahoka, Matthew, Josie and Kortney Morrill of West Point and Alexander and Gabriel Myers of Mendon; one sister, Judy Anderson of Ursa; a good friend, Tom Smith of Loraine; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Jane Emery.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Wednesday celebration of life in the Hunter Funeral Home, Mendon, with the Rev. Oliver Taube conducting. Mr. Morrill will be laid to rest next to his parents in the New Loraine Cemetery in Loraine.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m Tuesday in the funeral home.
