Judith Ann "Judy" Putnam, 67, of Sunset Home, formerly of Maywood, Mo., died at 7:13 a.m. Tuesday (April 1, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.
Judith was born Aug. 18, 1946, in Quincy, A daughter of Frank W. and Virginia F. Bunte Hughes. She married John David Putnam on Aug. 5, 1965, in Quincy. He survives.
Judy attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Quincy High School. She had been employed at Motorola and Riley's Drug Store.
Judy was a stay-at-home mom for many years and was actively involved in the operation and care of the family farm. She worked as a breakfast cook at Hy-Vee on Broadway for 16 years.
Judy attended Mass at Sunset Home. She was actively involved in Sunset Home activities including ceramics, bingo, the Red Hat Society, shopping trips and field trips, scrapbooking, making jewelry, cross stitch and knitting. Judy loved flowers, especially irises and violets. She continued growing violets at Sunset Home and loved to draw her flowers.
Survivors in addition to her husband include a daughter, Beth Ann Rost of Quincy; a son, Brad (Jill) Putnam of Maywood, Mo.; five grandchildren, Haley, Carley and Molley Rost, and Eli and Jackson Putnam; a sister, Jan (Rod) Frese of Quincy; two nieces, Jen (Dustan) Kern and Kimberly (Adam) Sammartino; a nephew, Ryan Frese; and two great-nephews, Jacob and Michael Kern.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son, Billy Joe Putnam.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Friday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Monsignor Michael Kuse conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy.
VISITATION: 9 to 10 a.m. Friday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
