Lenore Tenhouse Vollmer, 97, of the Good Samaritan Home, formerly of Liberty, died on Saturday (April 6, 2013) in the Good Samaritan Home.
She was born on March 12, 1916, in Liberty, the daughter of Charles and Melvina Murphy Linker. Lenore first married Edward Earl Tenhouse on Feb. 25, 1936, in Golden. He died on Jan. 17, 1976. She later married Dr. Floyd A. Vollmer on June 12, 1988, in Liberty. He died on March 29, 1996.
She was a graduate of Golden (Ill.) High School. Lenore held various clerical jobs throughout the years.
Lenore was also a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Liberty. Lenore was a member of the Eastern Star, the Liberty Garden Club and the Illinois Jersey Cattle Club.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Good Samaritan Home for the wonderful care given to Lenore during these past years.
She is survived by four children, Dale Tenhouse and his wife, Lois, of Quincy, Terry Tenhouse and his wife, Helen, of Chapel Hill, N.C., Gary Tenhouse and his wife, Donna, of Liberty and Georgia VanZandt and her husband, James, of Liberty; a stepson, Ted Vollmer and his wife, Linda, of Wisconsin; a stepdaughter, Phyllis Hofmeister and her husband, Robert, of Quincy; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; five stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; one stepgreat-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to both of her husbands, Lenore was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Zion Lutheran Church in Liberty. Burial will be in Xander Cemetery at Liberty.
VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy.
MEMORIALS: Zion Lutheran Church or to the Good Samaritan Home.
