Lester "Edwin" Gaus

LAGRANGE, Mo. -- Lester "Edwin" Gaus, 71, of rural LaGrange, died Saturday (May 10, 2014), at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

He was born June 27, 1942, in Ewing, a son of Chester Richard and Mildred Irene Logsdon-Gaus. Edwin was married to Janet Farr on Jan. 1, 2009, at the Dover Baptist Church near LaGrange, and she survives.

Edwin had been a farmer, a horse rancher, and retired as a truck driver. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association.

Surviving are his wife, Janet Gaus of rural LaGrange; daughters, Tina L. Powers and her husband, Tom, of Bloomington, Ill., and Tonya Renae Duncan of Ewing; a stepson, Scott W. Farr and his wife, Sandy, of LaGrange; two brothers, Eldon Gaus of Ewing, and Willie Gaus and his wife, Mardy, of Ewing; one sister, Berniece Shouse-Neisen and her husband, Paul, of Ewing, grandsons, Declan Powers and Colm Powers, both of Bloomington, Ethan Duncan and special friend, Alyssa Robinson, of Washington, Ill. and Zavion Duncan of Dix, Ill.; granddaughters, Ashley Renae Lightfoot-Bockhold and husband, Matthew, of Quincy, and Canady Lightfoot of Bloomington; a stepgranddaughter, Sydney Renae Farr of LaGrange; a great-grandson, Ryder Mitchell Duncan of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.

Edwin was proceeded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Makenna Renae Mabie; and two great-grandchildren, Gwendolyn Theresa and Ellison Rose Bockhold in infancy.

SERVICES: 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Dover Baptist Church near LaGrange, with the Rev. Elmer Hagood and Jordan Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Dover Cemetery near LaGrange.

VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing.

MEMORIALS: Dover Cemetery, which may be mailed or left with the Ball-Davis Funeral Home in Ewing.
