Lila Jean Kroeger, 83, of the Good Samaritan Home, died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 1, 2012) in the Foose Center of the home.
Lila was born March 8, 1929, in Fredonia, Kan., a daughter of John and Golda Sanger Mitchell. She married Roger Kroeger on Aug. 28, 1954, in Quincy. He died May 25, 1994.
Lila graduated from Girard (Kansas) High School in 1949. Before her marriage she was employed at Sprout's Inn.
Lila was a member of Union United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffery Kroeger and his wife, Vicki, of Iowa City, Iowa, and Gregory Kroeger and his wife, Deena, of Quincy; four grandchildren, Julie Herring, Katrina Casper and Mackenzie Kammerer, all of Quincy, and Brian Kroeger of Iowa City; three stepgrandchildren, Trish and Kerrie Hilgenbrinck, both of Quincy, and Tad Hilgenbrinck of New York City; two great-grandchildren, Kennadi Kroeger and Aria Kammerer, both of Quincy; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Colin and Devin Hermsmeier, both of Quincy; and a sister, Joann Murray of Girard, Kan.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Walker; and brothers, Thomas, Johnny and Jimmy Mitchell.
SERVICES: 11 a.m. Tuesday graveside services will be held in Greenmount Cemetery, with the Rev. James Riley conducting.
VISITATION: There will be no visitation.
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Home or Union United Methodist Church.
