Lois Eileen Byerly, 94, of 2130 Harrison, died at 10:05 a.m. Monday (April 22, 2013) in Good Samaritan Home.
She was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Peoria, a daughter of James H. and Hazel Richards Cuddington. On April 11, 1942, she married Noble Earl Byerly in Las Vegas. He died March 12, 2012.
She was a graduate of Farmington Community High School, and graduated from Brown's Business School. She was employed as the secretary to the president of a bank in Peoria. Lois and her husband owned and operated the Byerly Piano and Organ Co., which they opened in Quincy in 1953, until their retirement in 1977. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, where she was an assistant organist in the 1960s and sang in the choir and sang solos in the 1950s and 1960s.
Survivors include two daughters, Diana L. (David) Smith of Quincy and Cheri J. (Joseph) Friedman of Gibson City; two grandchildren, Matthew D. (Clare) Smith of Quincy and Nicholas A. (Amanda) Smith of Quincy; and five great-grandchildren, Elaina, Issac and Gideon Smith, and Charlotte and Dominic Smith, all of Quincy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Irving Cuddington
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Selves conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy.
VISITATION: 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
