Lyle F. Stofferahn, 84, of 1122 Kochs Lane, formerly of Hot Springs Village, Ark., died Saturday (March 9, 2013) in Blessing Hospital.
He was born April 27, 1928, in Holstein, Iowa, a son of Ferdinand and Edna Carlson Stofferahn. He married June E. Binette on July 29, 1950. She preceded him in death. He later married Eula Mae Veeder. She survives.
Mr. Stofferahn worked in industrial sales for Upham and Walsh Lumber in Des Plaines. Mr. Stofferahn served in the U. S. Marines during World War II
and the Korean War
. He was a member of the Catholic faith. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling. After his retirement, Lyle, along with his wife, June, moved from Palos Heights to Hot Springs and began traveling the country in their RV. Lyle was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was loved by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Richard Stofferahn of Kissimmee, Fla., Denise Toms and her husband, Richard, of Mount Morris, Diane Kasparie and her husband, Michael, of Maywood, Mo., and Linda Anderson and her husband, Brian, of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren, Keith Toms, Amanda Toms, Andrew Kasparie and his wife, Elizabeth, Jill Kasparie, Kelly Kasparie and her fiance', Joel Jellings, Amy Anderson and Kerry Anderson; one great-grandchild, Cameron Kasparie; one brother, Dale Stofferahn and his wife, Velma; and one sister, Shirley Scully and her husband, Frank. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wayne and Merle Stofferahn; and a sister, Carol Louise.
SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter by the Rev. Leo Enlow. Interment will be at a later date.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
