Margaret Pauline Bloss

Margaret Pauline Bloss, 89, a resident of Quincy, died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday (April 5, 2014) at Good Samaritan Home.

Margaret was born Nov. 29, 1924, in Springfield, Ill., the third child of Charles J. and Marie Faulhaber Selig. On Nov. 6, 1948, she married Robert F. Bloss at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Quincy. He died Jan. 22, 2008.

Mrs. Bloss was a 1942 graduate of Quincy High School. She worked as a dental assistant and bookkeeper until she and Bob moved to Boonville, Mo., in 1954. It was there that they lived and raised their three children, Bob (Pam) Bloss of Loch Lloyd, Mo., Nancy Bloss of Quincy, and Karen (Doug) Bennett of Bloomington, Ind..

Margaret and Bob were devoted parents and were active members of the Sts. Peter and Paul Parish church and school in Boonville. Family vacations generally involved working to improve and enjoy their cottage on the Mississippi River in Quincy. In 2004, they left Boonville and returned to live in Quincy.

She is survived by her three children; two sisters, Kathy (Jim) Durst and Nancy (Jim) Wells, both of Quincy; six grandchildren, Justin Bloss of Fairway, Kan., Brian (Sarah) Bloss of Overland Park, Kan., Abby (Brad) Chapman of Kansas City, Kan., Nick Bennett of Louisville, Ky., Lindsay and Lauren Bennett of Bloomington, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Olinger, Virginia Longoria and Norma Phillips.

SERVICES: 3 p.m. Saturday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Margaret was cremated and private inurnment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

VISITATION: 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
