Marty Stevens

Marty Stevens, 63, of Quincy, died Friday (April 18, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.

He was born Feb. 17, 1951, in Quincy, the son of Arbin and Dorothy (Martin) Stevens. After the early death of his father, Dorothy later married Eugene Nelson who helped to raise Marty. He married Joyce Dodd on July 29, 1972, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Marty retired from the Northeast Power Co. in February 2013. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He enjoyed golf, was an avid sports fan and greatly enjoyed the time spent with his children and grandchildren. His quiet humbleness will be remembered by all and missed dearly.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three children, Brent Stevens and his wife, Paula, of Republic, Mo., Curtis Stevens of Los Angeles and Casey Stevens and his wife, Amanda, of Olathe, Kan.; four grandchildren, Sadie and Ty Stevens and Keller and Keane Stevens; and one sister, Joyce Oakley and her husband, Bill, of Quincy. His extended family of numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and countless nieces and nephews also survive.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather.

SERVICES: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
