Mary L. Caldwell, 71, of Quincy, died at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday (April 23, 2014) in Blessing Hospital.
Born Sept. 4, 1942, in Quincy, she was a daughter of Stanley R. and Ludvina "Lou" Maas Inman. She married Wayne V. Caldwell on Jan. 27, 1962, in Quincy. He died Nov. 10, 2013.
Mary Lou and her husband owned and operated Caldwell's Book Exchange at 1100 N. 24th, where they were well-known as the Penny Candy Store. She retired in 2005.
Mary attended Blessed Sacrament Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to the boat in LaGrange with her husband.
Survivors include a sister, Dodie Abbott of Coatsburg; a sister-in-law, Maxine Londowski of Oshkosh, Wis.; a brother, Dale Inman (Ann) of Troy, Mich.; three nephews, Bobby Abbott, Carl Londowski (Lisa) and Alex Inman; five nieces, Sandy Waterman (Jeff), Paula Vaughan (Jim), Diane Groff (Jeff), Jill Inman and Lisa Inman; several great-nieces and nephews, including Kimberly Abbott of Camp Point; and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Caldwell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Richard "Ricky" Caldwell; a brother, Dennis Inman; two brothers-in-law, Paul Londowski and Phillip Upschulte; and a sister-in-law, Wanda Upschulte.
SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Monday in Greenmount Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Kuse conducting.
VISITATION: There will be no visitation, but friends are invited to attend the graveside service.
