Mary Lou Wellman, 70, of the Bickford Cottages, formerly of 9433 White Oak Road, Liberty, died Tuesday (Jan. 21, 2014) in Bickford Cottages.
She was born on Aug. 22, 1943, in Quincy, a daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Hugenberg Mock. She married William "Bill" Wellman on Jan. 5, 1963. He survives.
She was a 1961 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Quincy. Mary Lou was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Ladies of St. Anthony.
Mary Lou was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. Most of all she was a very loving grandma "mammie" to all of her grandkids. She especially loved babies and little children. Mary Lou enjoyed Sunday road trips, the annual trip to Branson, Mo., and was especially proud of their trip to New Zealand.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by six children, Bob Wellman and his wife, Angie, of Quincy, Cheryl Atwood and her husband, Scott, of Van Horne, Iowa, Mike Wellman and his wife, Lesia, of Fowler, Gary Wellman and his wife, Kristi, of Tipp City, Ohio, Kent Wellman of Quincy and Peggy DeVerger and her husband, Cliff, of Quincy; 15 grandchildren, Shelby Wellman, Colby Wellman, Amanda Griffith and her husband, Nathan, Brian Atwood, Russell Atwood, Caitlin Atwood, Amber Riley and her husband, Cody, Brooke Wellman, Cole Wellman, Kaela Wellman, Emily Wellman, Caleb Wellman, Luke Wellman, Brad Wellman and Jace DeVerger; one great-grandchild, Leo Griffith; three brothers, Jerry Mock and his wife, Carol, Ronnie Mock and his wife, Jeanette, and Larry Mock; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
SERVICES: 9:15 a.m. Saturday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Anthony Cemetery.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
