HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Mary M. Nelson, 94, of rural Hannibal, died at 10:07 p.m. Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2012) in Hannibal Regional Hospital.
Mary was born May 20, 1918, in Marion County, to Harry R. and Harriet Harsh Buckwalter. She married Roy R. Nelson on July 10, 1938, in Hannibal, and he died March 23, 1994.
Mary was a homemaker and a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Palmyra. She was a graduate of Palmyra High School.
She is survived by children Bonnie (Earl) Meyers of Palmyra, Daniel (Rita) Nelson of Palmyra, Robert Nelson of Palmyra, Kathleen Nelson of Palmyra, Jeanette (Mike) Symmonds of Columbia, Ronald Nelson of Palmyra, Betty (Stan) Hampton of Vienna, Mo., and Wesley Nelson of Palmyra; brothers Mahlon Buckwalter of Palmyra, Arthur Buckwalter of Monroe City and Warren Buckwalter of Hannibal; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, James R. Nelson; and brothers, John, Amos, Paul, Nathan, Allan and Wayne Buckwalter.
SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel, Palmyra, with the Rev. Roger Ricketts conducting. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Palmyra. Casket bearers will be Mike Nelson, Matt Nelson, David Meyers, Randy Nelson and Rob Bush.
VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. tonight in the funeral home.
MEMORIALS: Palmyra First Presbyterian Church.
