Matthew W. Surgeon, 45, of 513 Sycamore St., died at 12:45 a.m. Monday in the emergency room of Blessing Hospital.
He was born April 3, 1968, a son of John and Adah Harrison Surgeon.
Mr. Surgeon loved camping and being outdoors. He loved spending time with his family and his girlfriend, Ginger Sermon, and her family. Matthew enjoyed making everyone around him laugh.
Survivors include his siblings, George Surgeon of Quincy, Scott Reno and his girlfriend, Teri Blumhost, of Alvarado, Texas, and Esther Robin Green and her husband, Eric, of Hannibal, Mo.; four children, Shannen Cary and her husband, Daniel, of Carthage, April Miller and her husband, Shawn, of Dexter, Mo., Matthew Surgeon Jr. of Hannibal and Kristen Surgeon of Hannibal; four grandchildren, Alexia and Caleb Surgeon, FairyAnn Surgeon and Maverick Young; three nieces, Tami Brown, Crystal Robertson-Hardy and Audreana Platt; two nephews, Jacob Brown and Malachi Green; two great-nieces, Lilyanne Rudicil and Tamira Durking; his father, John Surgeon, and his wife, Barbara; and many cousins.
Mr. Surgeon was preceded in death by a daughter; his mother; and grandmother.
SERVICES: 1 p.m. Saturday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
