Maynard Samuel Branch

PEORIA, Ill. -- Maynard Samuel Branch, 91, of Peoria, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2012) in Proctor Hospital. Maynard is now at home with his Lord and Savior whom he faithfully served all his life.

He was born Oct. 21, 1921, in Warren, Mo., a son of Samuel and Della Pendleton Branch. He married Betty Ann McDivitt on June 19, 1949, in Franklin Grove. She died Nov. 26, 2000, in Carmel, Ind. He later married Barbara Kuni on Dec. 30, 2002, in Peoria. She survives.

Maynard was a World War II Army veteran and received three bronze service stars.

He was owner and operator of Branch/Hess Vending in Quincy for 31 years, retiring in 1981. He worked at State Farm from 1940 to 1952.

He attended Charter Oak Bible Church in Peoria. He was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the mission board at Calvary Baptist Church in Quincy. While living in Carmel, he attended Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Indianapolis.

Also surviving, in addition to his wife, are his children, Stanley (Peggy) Branch of Normal, Eric (Janice) Branch of Peoria, Curt (Lydia) Branch of Peoria, Kirby Branch of Indianapolis, Ind., D. Craig (Rowena) Branch of Haslet, Texas, and Melody (Rick) Drew of Girard; his stepchildren, Denise (Mike) Charlston of LaMarque, Texas, Bill Kuni of Pekin, Diane (Paul) Thorsell of Valencia, Calif., David (Rene) Kuni of Sunbury, Ohio, Donna (Matt) Rollins of Fishers, Ind., Deborah Hines of Hudson, Wis., and Dan (Jill) Kuni of Minooka; 29 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Garnet Opal Branch and Jean King, both of Urbana; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; his parents; one brother, RC Branch; and three sisters, Norma Deppner, Helen Ashley and Neva Hess.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Wilton Mortuary, Peoria, with the Rev. Jerry Hayward and the Rev. Douglas Lightly conducting. Entombment will be in American Mausoleum.

VISITATION: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, both in the mortuary.

MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers to Baptist Mid-Missions,; Southside Mission; or Peoria Rescue Mission.
