Michael "Mike" Francis Callahan, 53, passed away on June 22, 2014, in Quincy.
He was the youngest of four children born to John "Jack" and Lorraine Dewey Callahan at St. Mary's Hospital in Quincy on June 19, 1961.
Michael attended St. Boniface Grade School and Notre Dame High School in Quincy, then he attended Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Mo. Mike moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in California where he graduated from Livermore High School in Livermore, Calif. He also spent time in Colorado before recently moving back to Quincy where he was reunited with several childhood friends. Mike enjoyed reading scripture and spending time with his lifelong friend Peter Curran.
Mike had a friendly, outgoing personality and enjoyed helping others. He was witty, had a great sense of humor and liked to watch game shows. His favorite was "Jeopardy" and was most impressive with his many correct answers. He enjoyed a round of golf every now and again.
Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mike was preceded in death by his father in 1972 and his mother in 2007.
He is survived by his only child, son Ryan of California. Mike is also survived by his three siblings: a brother, John, of Colorado, and two sisters, Kitty and Mary, both of California.
SERVICES: 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, memorial service will be held in The Crossing at 929 Monroe St., Quincy. A reception will follow the service -- everyone is welcome.
