Mildred M. Bockhold

FOWLER, Ill. -- Mildred Mary Bockhold, 87, of 1622 Hugenberg Lane, Fowler, died at 11 a.m. Monday (March 10, 2014) in St. Vincent's Home in Quincy.

She was born July 22, 1926, in Fowler, a daughter of Ferd and Rosina Genenbacher Steinkamp. Mildred married Virgil Bockhold on Oct. 15, 1947, in Quincy's St. Boniface Catholic Church in Quincy, and he survives.

Mildred had worked full-time at Eli Walker in Quincy early in her marriage. She was a homemaker, and in the 1970s she also worked part-time in alterations at Forbes and Sears.

Mildred was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she had been an active member of the Altar Society and the quilting group. She regularly cleaned the church with her husband, Virgil.

She loved to sew, crochet and quilt.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Andrews and her husband, Sam, and Katherine Burkett and her husband, Gary, all of Columbia, Mo.; three grandchildren, Charles Jackson of Castle Rock, Colo., Amy (Andrew) Hutson of Columbia, and Adam (Stacee) Andrews of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one stepgrandchild, Cassie (Andrew) Hallacy of Wichita, Kan.; seven great-grandchildren, Cameron, Kayela and Amber Hallacy, Evelyn Hutson, and Braden, Lillian and Case Andrews; three brothers, Elmer Steinkamp, Richard (Edna) Steinkamp and James (Margie) Steinkamp, all of Quincy; two sisters, Alvera Bockhold of Quincy and Florence (Tom) Dietrich of Fowler; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Chezem of Fairfax, Va. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gerard Bockhold; a brother, Charles Steinkamp; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Rosie Steinkamp, Frances (Ray) McGee and Laurine (Bill) Bufford, Henry (Rita) Bockhold, Sylvester Bockhold, George Bockhold and Ramon Chezem.

SERVICES: 8:45 a.m. Saturday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home in Quincy with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
