Opal Jane Daniel, 94, of Quincy, died at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 29, 2013) in Good Samaritan Home.
Born April 21, 1919, in Shelby County, Mo., she was the daughter of Samuel and Pearl Long Morris. She married George Daniel on Feb. 15, 1947, in Excelsior Springs, Mo. He died Dec. 5, 1986.
Jane was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Quincy and a former member of the Harrisonville Baptist Church in Missouri. She was a graduate of Monroe City (Mo.) High School. She enjoyed reading, working in her garden, raising flowers and especially loved to crochet. Jane was also active in the Ladies Auxiliary called the "Pink Ladies" at the Harrisonville, Mo., Hospital.
She was first employed as a elementary education teacher in the country schools for a few years. She then became the manager at the Grace Co. which made baby clothes in Beldon, Mo. She worked there for several years until her retirement.
Survivors include a son, Ken Daniel (Tami) of Aurora, Ore; a daughter, Kay Flowerree (Paul) of Quincy; two grandchildren, Kimi Walsh (Tom) of Sherwood, Ore., and Kandy Karter of Aurora, Ore.; three great-grandchildren, A.J. D'Antonio, George Daniel and Wayne Karter, all of Oregon; and a niece, Deborah Kerr (Thomas) of Excelsior Springs, Mo.
Mrs. Daniel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; and a brother, Ralph Morris.
SERVICES: 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Emden Cemetery in Emden, Mo., with Pastor Tim Dougherty officiating.
VISITATION: 10:30-11:30 a.m. Friday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home, Quincy.
MEMORIALS: Good Samaritan Home, Lighthouse Baptist Church or Emden (Mo.) Cemetery Association.
