EDINA, Mo. -- Phyllis Jean Krueger, 87, of Edina, died Tuesday (Jan. 1, 2013) in the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina.
Phyllis was born on May 9, 1925, in Chicago, a daughter to John James and Agnes Cecilia Miller Delaney. She met a young man while visiting her grandparents in Baring and was united in marriage to Frank W. Krueger on June 26, 1948, in Chicago. He died on May 18, 2011.
They returned to Edina to make their home and to raise a family. Phyllis had worked for TWA, International Harvester and the IGA bakery. She served as Edina city collector from 1976 until her retirement in 1996 and had worked as a greeter at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home.
She attended St. Agnes Parish and graduated from Providence High School of Chicago with the Class of 1943.
Phyllis was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and had been a member of the Baring Country Club and the Edina Country Club. She enjoyed music, dancing, reading and entertaining. Her home was always open for visitors. Phyllis loved her time spent with family. It was her greatest enjoyment.
Surviving are her six children, Mark and his wife, Joetta Krueger, of Kirksville, Denise and her husband, Rod Yuskis, of Warsaw, Ill., Kirk and his wife, Nancy Krueger, of Dallas, Kyle and his husband, Jim Clark, of Edina, Brad and his wife, Becky Krueger, of Waterloo, Ill., and Kem and his wife, Janelle Krueger of Laramie, Wyo.; and 19 grandchildren, Todd, Nichole, Brigitte, Tara, Courtney, Brock, Chris, Ryan, Kelsey, Alex, Paul, Jonathan, Joshua, Laura, Natalie, Kaitlyn, Collin, Carson and Ava; 14 great-grandchildren, Amelia, Sarah, Victoria, Elisabeth, Alexander, Damen, Delaney, Brooks, Scarlett, Rock, Agnes, Elijah, Josephine and Thomas; a brother, Donald and his wife, Barbara Delaney, of Galena, Ill.; a sister, Mary Delores and her husband, Frank Rosner, of Glenwood, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Marje Delaney of Sea Girt, N.J.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends.
In addition to her husband, Frank, Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, John and Agnes Delaney; a brother, Joseph William Delaney; and a sister-in-law, Fran Delaney.
SERVICES: A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Edina, with the Rev. Joseph Hoi assisted by Deacon Ken Berry conducting with Nancy Reardon, organist, and Lisa Bowen, vocalist. After the Celebration of Life, Phyllis will be cremated, and burial will be held at a later date in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Her grandchildren will provide music and serve as pallbearers along with honorary bearers, the staff of the Knox County Nursing Home.
VISITATION: After 4 p.m. today with family present from 5 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the Doss Funeral Home in Edina.
