Richard C. Grove, 89, of Sunset Home, formerly of 2007 Van Buren, died at 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 23, 2013) in the home.
Born Sept. 1, 1923, in Rushville, Richard was the son of Darah and Nona Scott Grove. He married Maudie F. Downs on Feb. 21, 1945, in Quincy. She died on Oct. 5, 1993. He then married Marilyn Lester Webster on Oct. 22, 1996, in Quincy. She survives.
Richard was a member of First Southern Baptist Church. He enjoyed working and tinkering with cars. He was employed as a machine operator at Brower Mfg. for 40 years, retiring in 1985.
In addition to his wife, Marilyn, survivors include a son, Richard L. Grove of Quincy; a stepson, Harry Roth (Mary) of Longview, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Crystal Schnellbacher (Norman) of New London, Mo., and Lillian Hendricks of Florida; three grandchildren, Richard C. Grove, Tayler A. Grove (Saiday) and Cameron J. Grove; six step-grandchildren, Harry Roth, Raymond Roth, Rickey Roth, Angel Terry (Kenneth), Jennifer Barmore (James) and Michael Schnellbacher (Laura); two great-grandchildren, Isabelle Grove and Abiigail Grove; nine step-great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Kinsey and Kylee Terry, Savannah and Randy Barmore, and Michael Jared, Elayna and Levi Schnellbacher and Dawson Roth; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his first wife, Maudie, Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Southern Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Rains conducting. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday in the church.
