Richard "D" Fesler, 75, of Quincy, died 6:25 a.m. Monday (May 13, 2013) in Blessing Hospital.
Richard was born May 13, 1938, in New Canton, a son of Richard Martin and Dorothy Irene Ellsworth Fesler. He married Martha Lou Doran Campbell on March 3, 1973, in Jacksonville. She survives
Richard was a 1956 graduate of West Pike High School, and he served in the U.S. Navy
from 1956 until 1961.
He was a real estate salesman for Brown and Mating Realtors, and then was a Prudential Insurance salesman until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 37.
Richard loved mushroom hunting and reading westerns, and was an avid race face, especially Jeff Gordon and Mark Burgtorf. He also loved his Chicago Cubs and his dog, Wrigley.
Survivors in addition to his wife include three daughters, Paula (Brad) O'Dear of Camp Point, Ronna Fesler of Columbia, Mo., and Melissa
(Mark) Burgtorf of Quincy; four grandchildren, Corey O'Dear of Quincy, Shaila O'Dear of Camp Point, Jamal Tooley of Columbia, Mo., and Cale
Burgtorf of Quincy; a great-granddaughter, Ella O'Dear of Quincy; his brother, Roger (Linda) Fesler of Kinderhook; and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
SERVICES: 1 p.m. Thursday in Greenmount Cemetery, with the Rev Gary Schluckebier conducting. Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 37.
VISITATION: There will be no formal visitation.
MEMORIALS: American Legion Post 37 or Shriners Hospital for Children.
