Robert C. "Bob" Morris, 87, of 1328 N. Ninth St., died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday (July 23, 2013) in Sycamore Healthcare Centre.
He was born on Jan. 12, 1926, in Quincy, the son of Charles and Ruth Schullian Morris. He married Charlene Dumford on Aug. 5, 1950, in St. Francis Catholic Church. She survives.
Bob worked as a foreman for Motorola, retiring in 1976. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and attended Quincy College.
Bob devoted many years to coaching children's basketball at St. John the Baptist School. He was a member of the Hall of Fame of the CYO, St. John the Baptist School and the QU Mart Heinen Club. Bob loved sports and was an avid fan of Chicago sports teams.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by seven children, Pam Paden and her husband, Steve, Gregory Morris and his wife, Pamela, Kenneth Morris and his wife, Terri, Jeff Morris, Denise Blackledge and her husband Jerry, Roger Morris and his fiance, Amy, and Kimberly Nixon and her husband, Tad, all of Quincy; 15 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Jim Morris and his wife, Sue; two sisters, Rose Gott and her husband, Tom, and Margaret Andrews and her husband, Dan; and two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Morris and Sherry Morris. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Earl Morris and Paul Morris.
SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
MEMORIALS: Sycamore Healthcare Centre or to St. Francis Catholic School.
