Robert "Bob" Harris, 86, of the Timber Point Health Care Center, died at 12:15 a.m. Monday (March 4, 2013) in the home.
Born March 30, 1926, in New Boston, Robert was a son of Lawrence and Alice Fender Harris.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Navy
during World War II
and the Korean War
Mr. Harris worked as a bartender at various taverns in Quincy and also was a self-employed landscaper and tree trimmer in the local area.
He enjoyed spending time with his many friends and with his family.
Survivors include four sons, Peter "Pete" Harris (Ronnie) of Long Island, N.Y., Robert "Robbie" Harris Jr. (Julie) of Orlando, Fla., Stephen Wright (Kathy) of Quincy and Mark Wright (Lynn) of Manchester, Mo.; six daughters, Debbie Bradley, Carman Schuffler, Susan Simpson, Linda Bence (David Sr.) and Lynndette Wright, all of Quincy, and Nancy Harris of Orlando; 21 grandchildren, Jennifer and Stephanie Jones, Renee, Ashley, Nick and John Wright, Reshay Wright, Diamond Jade and David Bence Jr., Richie and Steven Wright, Shena Ray, Brandon and Tiffany Wright, all of Quincy, Roxie, Ian, Colin and Evan Wright, all of Manchester, and Robin, Shaun and Tyler Harris, all of Orlando; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lawrence Harris.
SERVICES: Military graveside services by the Quincy American Legion Post 37 and the Illinois National Guard Funeral Detail will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Sunset Cemetery at the Illinois Veterans Home.
VISITATION: 9-10 a.m. Friday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
