Robert J. Schepers, 73, of 1604 College, died at 1 p.m. Tuesday (May 25, 2010) in Blessing Hospital. He was born Nov. 15, 1936, in Quincy, a son of Robert and Christine Tushaus Schepers. Bob was a graduate of Quincy Notre Dame and Quincy College. Bob worked at Gardner Denver as a timekeeper until his retirement. He was a lifelong and very active member of St. Francis Catholic Church. Bob sang at the 8 a.m. Mass for many years and participated in the funeral choir and as a Eucharistic minister. One of Bob's proudest achievements was being instrumental in bringing the TEC and Cursillo movements to Quincy. Bob was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bob is survived by a sister, Marjorie Wavering of Quincy, and nieces and nephews, Jeff Wavering, Janet Schwartz, Judy Gilker, Rick Rogers, Rodney Kipping, Brad Kipping, Robert Kipping and Mary Jo Fisher. Numerous great-nieces and great-nephews along with many friends also survive. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John "Jack" Schepers; three sisters, Mary Virginia Farrell, Kathlyn Rogers and Carlene Kipping; and a niece, Karol Farrell. SERVICES: 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
