Roger L. Campbell

Roger L. Campbell, 65, of Shawnee, Kan., died Wednesday (Oct. 3, 2012) in his home.

Roger was born Oct. 8, 1946, in Keokuk, Iowa, a son of Gordon and Dorothy Kinkade Campbell. He married Cheryl "Ki" Geske in June 1967. She died April 4, 2002.

Roger was a 1964 graduate of Quincy High School where he was active in sports, playing baseball, football and wrestling. He later attended Millikin University in Decatur.

Mr. Campbell served in the United States Army achieving the rank of captain. He fought in Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart. He also served in Korea.

After his military duty Roger worked in other capacities within the U.S. government. He also was a gifted worker of puzzles, especially crossword puzzles.

Survivors include his daughter, Ronni Selinger and her husband, Greg, of Springfield; three grandchildren, James, Matthew, and Ellen Selinger; and a brother, Wayne Campbell of Tampa, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sheri George of Quincy.

SERVICES: Graveside services will be held in Quincy Memorial Park on a date to be determined later.
