Ronald J. Koch, 69, of 616 Hamilton Ave, Quincy, died Sunday (July 7, 2013) in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Dec. 18, 1943, in Quincy, a son of Adam J. and Cora R. Schreacke Koch. He served in the United States Navy
from 1963 until 1967 during the Vietnam era. He married Katherine "Kay" Culpen on July 9, 1966, in St. Francis Catholic Church. She survives.
Mr. Koch was a 1963 graduate of Christian Brothers High School. He worked for Moorman Manufacturing Co. for 28 years. He then later worked for Quincy Compressor for 10 years.
Ron was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking and boating. He was an avid Cubs fan. Ron also greatly enjoyed all the time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by five children, Kevin Koch and his wife, Kris, of Bloomington, Amy Crouch and her husband, Marc, of Phoenix, Adam Koch and his wife, Danielle, of Quincy, Kim Danker and her husband, Brian, of Quincy and Curtis Koch and his wife, Valerie, of Normal; 13 grandchildren, Morgan, Kyle and Lauren Koch, Madalyn, Sidney and Brandon Crouch, Logan and Bailey Dean and Caleb Koch, Haylie, Ashlyn and Taylor Danker and Austin Koch; and three sisters, Anita Steinkamp, Barbara Thompson and her husband, Ray, and Sister Barbara Rose Koch, CPPS. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Alice Wietholder, Margaret Libertyn and a sister Ruth in childhood.
SERVICES: 10:45 a.m. Friday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home and at 11:30 a.m. in St. Anthony Catholic Church. Inurnment at a later date will take place at Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.
