HANNIBAL, Mo. -- Shirley R. Bomar, 78, of Hannibal, died at 7:35 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 5, 2011) at her home.
Shirley was born on Aug. 16, 1933, to Eugene and Laura Howald Roberts in Pike County, Mo. She was married on June 30, 1967 in Hannibal to Paul Bomar. He survives.
Mrs. Bomar served as the past executive director of the Hannibal Housing Authority since 1983. After retiring as executive director, Shirley managed the Hannibal Housing Authority High Rise and Low Rise since 2001.
Shirley was valedictorian of her High School class. She loved to cook and garden. Shirley loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a friend to all and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Shirley was a member of the Saverton Ilasco Methodist Church.
Other survivors include one daughter, Paula Hirner (Dave) of Hannibal; two grandsons, J.C. Tennimon and Justin Hirner; two sisters, Carolyn Tatman of Saverton, and Deloris Bauer (Bill) of Hannibal; one niece, D.K. Hirner (Chuck Geiger); two great-nieces, Shelby Tatman and Taylor Tatman; five nephews, Jim Roberts (Debbie), Steve Roberts (Bonnie), Gary Roberts, Allen Tatman (Marilee), and Scott Tatman (Cyndi); and one great-nephew, Ryan Tatman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald Patrick Malone, and a brother, Sterling Roberts.
SERVICES: 11 a.m. Thursday in the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park. The Dr. John Hayes will officiate assisted by Mrs. Kathy Redmon. Pallbearers will be Steve Roberts, Gary Roberts, Scott Tatman, Ryan Tatman, Allen Tatman, and Chuck Geiger.
VISITATION: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
