Willis Carl "Will" Fredericks

Willis Carl "Will" Fredericks died Sunday (Feb. 16, 2014) in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Will was born July 28, 1932, in Quincy, a son of Carl and Freda Seiz Fredericks. He married Mary Jane Tapscott in 1953. They were divorced. In 1974 he married Rosalind Perry Schlink who died in 2004.

His family moved to Colorado Springs from Quincy in 1943 and he graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1950. He attended the University of Illinois and graduated with a bachelor of architecture degree. He became associated with architectural firms in Illinois where he assumed the responsibilities of project architect for significant educational and industrial projects throughout the state. In 1983 he established his own office in Ottawa (Ill.), specializing in commercial and institutional projects. He was a corporate member of the American Institute of Architects and was certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. He retired in 2002 and moved to Sturgeon Bay., Wis., then to Ottawa. In 2006 he moved back to Colorado Springs.

He is survived by three children, Susan (Jeff) Baldwin of Rockford, David Fredericks and Mark (Teresa) Fredericks of Champaign. He is also survived by his cherished companion, Ann H. Van Sant of Colorado Springs; his stepdaughter, Diedre Rossiter of Ottawa; two sisters, Virginia Steinkamp Steiner of Quincy, and Viola (Ben) Hamner of Banning, Calif.; seven grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Harvey Fredericks.

SERVICES: Memorial and burial services will be held at a later date in Ottawa.
