Zella Marie Jones

Zella Marie Jones, 84, of 2130 Harrison, Cottage 27A, died at 10:14 a.m. Friday (Feb. 21, 2014) in the Good Samaritan Home.

She was born Dec. 4, 1929, in Taylor, Mo., a daughter of Raymond and Bertha Creacy Beckman. She married Chris K. Allison Jr. on Jan. 7, 1950. He died March 4, 1963. In later years, she married Delbert Jones on June 11, 1977. He died Oct. 15, 1991.

Zella went to a one-room schoolhouse known as Sudduth her first eight years and graduated from Palmyra High School in 1947.

She was a member of Faith Christian Church and its Jolly Seniors Club. She was also a member of the Salvation Army auxiliary and was a mentor in the Quincy Public Schools. She worked for 17 years at the International Shoe Factory, 11 years at Motorola and 13 years at Bergner's, retiring in 1991.

She loved spending time with her family in Oklahoma City, Largo, Fla., and in and around Quincy. She also loved line dancing, playing bingo, reading novels and tending to her flowers.

Survivors include her daughter, Tina (Duncan) Harvey of Largo; a granddaughter, Allison Harvey of Oklahoma City; a stepdaughter, Dianne Dicks of Quincy; two step-grandchildren, Michelle (Greg) Feldberg and Kevin (Meghan) Dicks, both of Quincy; two stepgreat-granddaughters, Ashley and Kiersten Feldberg of Quincy; nieces and nephews, Vicky (Tom) Vance, Wannette (Mark) Gottman, Debbie (Gary) Hudson, Chuck (Becky) Jones, Robert Lee (Jean) Clow, Diane (Les) Shuck, Keith Clow, Donald Sanders, Lloyd Sanders and Kenneth Sanders; and several great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her two husbands, Zella was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Anna (Robey) Clow, Dorothy (Kenneth) Sanders and Rosella (Don) Gaston.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Rev. Matt Worstell and the Rev. Henry Pratt conducting. Burial will be in Maywood (Mo.) Cemetery.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Faith Christian Church.
