Charles Osmeyer Obituary

Charles D. Osmeyer, 77, of 509 N. 29th, Quincy, died at 9:30 p.m. Monday (May 2, 2011) in Blessing Hospital.

Charles was born May 9, 1933, in Quincy, a son of Wilmer and Ruth Nixon Osmeyer. On March 14, 1958, he married Mary Boss. She died April 29, 2009.

Charles retired from Ameren CIPS after more than 40 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Charles greatly loved antiques and auctions. In earlier years, he loved to play pool and cards.

He is survived by his two daughters, Jetta Mast and her husband, John "Pinky," and Barb Klauser and her husband, John, all of Quincy; his grandchildren, Gerald Mast and his wife, Kim, of Plainville, John Mast and his wife, Becky, Michelle Mast and her fiance, Rayvon Davis, all of Plainfield, and Deanna Kelty and her husband, Tom, and Chad Klauser, all of Quincy; 12 great-grandchildren, Chase, Chance, Codi, LaJon, Tiera, Karson, Peyton and Tyler Mast, Taylor and Conner Kelty and Carter and Ian Klauser; a sister, Norma Seward and her husband, Don, of Quincy; and a brother-in-law, Harold M. McDonald, also of Quincy. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, Clayton Mast; a brother, Wayne Osmeyer; and one sister, Laura Lee McDonald.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Thursday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery with military rites conducted at the cemetery by American Legion Post 37.

VISITATION: 10 a.m. until the time of the services Friday in the funeral home.

MEMORIALS: Vermont Street United Methodist Church.

ARRANGEMENTS: Duker and Haugh Funeral Home.

My father, Elmer William Osmeyer Jr., would have been Charles' cousin,
Wilmer and Elmer, Sr being brothers. I never met the Osmeyer side of my family, but I see the family resemblance in Charles' picture. I am sorry for your loss.
