Janet M. Schwartz

Janet M. Schwartz, 64, of Sunset Home, formerly of 2535 Elm, died on at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday (May 18, 2011) in the home.

She was born Oct. 7, 1946, in Quincy, a daughter of Paul B. and Marjorie Schepers Wavering.

Janet attended the Illinois School for the Blind in Jacksonville from the age of 5. She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and Quincy College. Janet was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.

Janet enjoyed reading in Braille, playing cards and singing. She dearly loved being with her family. Janet was a member of the Illinois Council for the Blind and the Peoria Federation for the Blind.

Janet is survived by her mother, Marjorie Wavering of Quincy; a brother, Jeff Wavering of Macon, Mo.; nieces and nephews, Christine Hartline and her husband, Roy, Jennifer Gohagan and her husband, Dan, and Tony Wavering.

Several great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives also survive.

Janet was preceded in death by her father; and a brother, Jon Wavering.

SERVICES: 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery.

VISITATION: From 9:15 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at St. Francis Catholic Church.

MEMORIALS: St. Francis Catholic Church or Sunset Home.
