Marion Woodward Obituary

Marion "Woody" Dale Woodward, 80, of 1707 N. 12th St., died at 4:10 a.m. Monday (June 13, 2011) in Blessing Hospital.

Woody was born June 3, 1931, in Pike County, a son of Lloyd and Marie West Woodward. He first married Viola Baker, then Leta Irene Garnett and lastly, Genevieve Strieker, who preceded him in death.

Woody had worked for Packaging Corporation, and was retired from Electric Wheel, now Titan Wheel. Following his retirement, he worked for Burns Security.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and in the U.S. National Guard.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Woody loved to eat and go fishing and mushroom hunting. He enjoyed country western bands and participating in as many activities as he could while a resident at the Veterans Home.

Survivors include his children, Deborah Guthrie and her husband, Gene, of Ursa, Kevin Woodward, David Woodward and Jason Woodward and his wife, Melissa; stepchildren, John (Linda) Strieker, Joel Strieker, Jennifer Brown and Janie (Donnie) Smith; five grandchildren, James Logsdon and his friend Kathy, Daniel (Jammie) Logsdon, Mathew (Rosie) Logsdon, Kristina Woodward and Katie (Christian) Clair; a brother, George Woodward; and two sisters, Carol Gronewold and Pat Cherry. Numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Genevieve; brothers, Don and Delbert Woodward; and a daughter, Deloris "Jeanie" Reed.

SERVICES: 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the All Faiths Chapel of the Illinois Veteran's Home conducted by the Rev. Don Blickhan. Burial with military honors will be in Sunset Cemetery.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel at the Veterans Home.

MEMORIALS: Illinois Veterans Home Activities Fund.
