Bert Kibler Obituary

Bert E. Kibler, 87, of 309 Hampton Ridge Drive, Wentzville, Mo., and formerly of Quincy, died Saturday (May 14, 2011) in St. John's Mercy Medical Center, St. Louis.

Bert was born July 11, 1923, in Pittsfield, a son of Fred and Pearl Myers Kibler. He married Margaret Boling on May 11, 1945, in Barry. She survives.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942-1945. His plane was shot down over Romania where he was a POW for six months. Bert received the Purple Heart.

He was a graduate of Gem City Business College, and was one of the founders of the Mill Creek Water District of which he had been the general manager. He was involved in the Boy Scouts during the 1950s and 1960s. He was a member of the Optimist Club and the American Legion Post No. 37 which he served faithfully on the Honor Guard and Memorial Service Detail for 30 years.

Survivors also include his daughter, Sherry (Robert) Cerrano of Wentzville; a grandson, Jason (Erica) Cerrano of Wentzville; a granddaughter, Annie Cerrano of Wilmington, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Hudson Cerrano; a sister, Marcella Nichols of Ursa; two brothers, Glenn Kibler of Ursa and Tommy Kibler of Quincy; and nieces and nephews.

Bert was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Earl and Dallas Kibler.

SERVICES: 1 p.m. Thursday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Disseler officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.

MEMORIALS: American Heart Association.

Dear Margaret & Sherry & family,
I am so sorry that I am not able to be there today to share with you in the celebration of Bert's long & wonderful life.
