Marjorie Bush Obituary

Marjorie Jayne Bush, 97, of Pigeon Forge, Tenn., formerly of Quincy, died Friday (May 13, 2011) in Pigeon Forge Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Marjorie was born on March 6, 1914, in Plymouth, Ind., a daughter of Milton and Mabel McKinney. She married Robert "Bob" Bush in 1965 in St. Louis. He died May 14, 1976.

She was a 1932 graduate of Plymouth High School, Plymouth, Ind., and was employed by J.C. Penney Co. until her marriage in 1938 to Joseph Pippenger (formerly vice president of Gates Radio). They moved to Quincy in 1940, and he preceded her in death. Marge and her husband Bob (electrical engineer) were both employed by Gates Radio, and she was in charge of payroll accounting for 20 years until her retirement in 1969.

She was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church for 70 years, PEO from 1955-2011, and Bridge Club in Quincy from 1940-2000. Bridge Club was comprised of eight to 10 members who met once a month continuously for 60 years until all the members in their declining years either moved away or died. Marge was also a volunteer at Blessing Hospital.

Survivors include a son, Philip McKinney (Margaret "Peg") Pippenger of Seymour, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Kim Young, M.D. of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; grandsons, Rob Pippenger of Baton Rouge, La., Phillip Pippinger Jr. of Evanston, Alex Pippenger of California, and Ben Pippenger of Zurich, Switzerland; and seven great-grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Stephen Joseph Pippenger.

My deepest sympathy to you and your loved ones in the passing of your mother. I met your mother in the 1960's as I had rented a room from her when going to school. I often thought of her as she was very kind to me. Again my sympathy to you.
