Ronald Andrews Obituary

Ronald S. Andrews, 80, of 2511 Dennis Drive, Quincy, died at 9:35 p.m. Sunday (May 22, 2011) in his son's home.

Ronald was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Rockford, a son of Robert William and Rena Elanor Schafer Bazarek. He married Beverly M. Berens on Sept. 10, 1955, in Beloit, Wis. She survives.

Ronald spent his early years in Rockford and Rockton. He was a graduate of Hononegah High School in Rockton. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Power DD839 from 1951 to 1955. Upon completion of this duty he returned to employment with GTE from which he retired in 1980.

Survivors include five children, Susan Smith and her husband, David, of Heyworth, Gregory Andrews and his wife, Donna, of Quincy, Annette Quinn and her husband, Steve, of Fayetteville, Ga., Margaret Nolle and her husband, John, of Belmont, Mich., and Steven Andrews and his wife, Stacey, of Speedway, Ind.; and 13 grandchildren.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Shirley and Sharon.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Anthony Catholic Church, with the Rev. Donald Knuffman officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Rockton Township Cemetery, Rockton.

VISITATION: There will be no visitation.

MEMORIALS: Boy Scouts of America.
