Clifford Emery Obituary

LORAINE, Ill. -- Clifford J. Emery, 88, of Loraine died at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday (May 10, 2011) in Blessing Hospital, Quincy.

Clifford was born on Jan. 4, 1923, in Quincy to the late Thomas S. and Gladys Lorraine Littleton Emery. He married Betty Adair on Dec. 2, 1945, in Kansas City, Kan. Betty died Feb. 27, 1998. He later married Fern Swick on March 20, 1999, in Loraine. Fern died Jan. 12, 2010.

Clifford attended Green Street Grade School in Meyer and Lima High School. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 627 Union. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, visiting with family and friends and sitting on his porch watching the world go by.

Surviving are two sons, Clifford Thomas Emery and his wife, Judy, of Quincy and Richard Charles Emery of Garner, N.C.; four brothers, two of whom were raised by Clifford and Betty as their own which are, Ronald Emery and his wife, Debbie, of Midland, Mich., and Donald Emery and his wife, Beverly, of LaGrange, Mo., Jim Emery and his wife, Jean, of Morton, and Forrest "Dale" Emery and his wife, Betty, of Mendon; one sister, Betty Berhorst of Canton, Mo; three grandchildren, Rhonda Piarce and her husband, Doug, of Clayton, N.C., Robin Schafer and her husband, Tom, of Clayton, N.C., and Regina Houghton of Oklahoma; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marion, Robert and Kenneth Emery; and one granddaughter, Rachelle Redmon.

SERVICES: 11 a.m. Saturday graveside services in the New Loraine Cemetery near Loraine, with the Rev. Oliver Taube conducting.

VISITATION: There will be no visitation but friends are invited to the services at the cemetery.

MEMORIALS: March of Dimes.

ARRANGEMENTS: Hunter Funeral Home, Mendon.
