PERRY, Ill. -- Alma Marciel Reeves, 83, of Perry, died Wednesday (July 17, 2013) in Heritage Health in Mount Sterling. She was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Kaupo, Hawaii, a daughter of Joseph and Josephine Akiona Marciel. She married Robert Reeves on Feb. 18, 1949, in Honolulu. He died April 28, 2010. Alma was employed at Capitol Records in Jacksonville for 26 years before retiring. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pittsfield, People to People, Pike Promenaders and Country Couples. She volunteered her time in making quilts with the ladies of the Catholic church and being actively involved in Perry Pioneer Days, where she was given the distinction of being named Perry Pioneer Days Honored Citizen. Alma enjoyed painting and listening to country music. She is survived by two daughters, Roberta (Don) Dougherty of Perry and Maile (Joe) Hills of Mount Sterling; one son, Mark (Ruth) Reeves of Griggsville; seven grandchildren, Krista (Doug) Savage and Trisha Hills, all of Quincy, Jason (Kari) Hills and Bryan Hills, all of Mount Sterling, Tracy (Jamie) Flowers of Perry, and Sarah (Jon) Freeman and Ashli (David) Freesmeyer, all of Griggsville; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Leland Marciel of California; one sister, Ivy Doke of Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and six sisters. SERVICES: 2 p.m. Sunday in Airsman-Hires Funeral Chapel, Griggsville. Burial will be in McCord Cemetery, Perry. VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the funeral chapel in Griggsville.
