Barbara Jean Havermale Price, 79, formerly of Quincy, died peacefully in Colorado on Sept. 26, 2013. She lived at Memory Care of Seven Lakes and at Bright Assisted Living in Colorado for the past several years. She was born in Quincy on Dec. 9, 1933. She lived her adult life in Quincy, Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz., Sparks, Nev., and then came to Windsor, Colo., three years ago to live near her daughter. Barbara stayed home to raise her children in the early years and then went to work in various office jobs, ending her career at H&R Block in Nevada. In her retirement she did office work at Immaculate Conception Church in Sparks, Nev., and helped with raising money for a new location. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Quincy in 1951. When she returned to her hometown of Quincy, to care for her last remaining sibling, Mary Verigan, during her final year. She visited the Camp Point nursing home with family members to entertain the residents with music and song. She decided to stay in Quincy after she reconnected with family and friends from high school. She only moved to Colorado after she needed more assistance with daily living activities. She had a very wry sense of humor that kept her housemates smiling. She gave birth to six children who survive her, Tina Schinner, Windsor, Colo., Deborah Lopez of Chula Vista, Calif., David Price of Bullhead City, Ariz., Lawrence Price of Sparks, Nev., Kristine Reeves of Haines, Alaska, and Douglas Price of Tonopah, Nev.; grandchildren, Courtney Schinner, Daniel Schinner, Sarah Schinner, Jennifer Lopez Payne, Delisa Lopez, Megan Reeves, Hannah Reeves, Stephanie Price, Michael Price and James Price, and two great-grandsons, Zachariah and Logan. She was preceded by her parents, Noel and Eleanor Havermale; her husband, Samuel D. Price; her six brothers, Joseph, James, Victor, Noel, George and Richard); her two sisters, Mary and Nancy. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in Church of St. Peter in Quincy. Burial of her ashes will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery in Quincy immediately after the Mass.
