CANTON, Mo. --Mrs. Barbara Jean Taylor, 81 of Canton, formerly of Tennessee, Ill., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones on Sunday, August 24, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at the Lewis County Nursing Facility in Canton.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1933, in Tennessee, Ill., the daughter of Lee and Doris (Bloom) Osborn.

She was united in marriage to Ron Taylor on Feb. 14, 2003, in Kahoka, Mo.

Barbara grew up and lived in West Central Illinois for the majority of her life. She worked in the food and dining industry as a server for many years. She enjoyed meeting people through her occupation and developed many strong relationships that ended up being lifelong friendships. Anyone who ever met Barbara was instantly her friend, for she had a genuine kindness, caring personality, and beautiful smile that was unforgettable. After raising her four children she returned to the Tennessee, Ill., area where she was employed by Freeman United Coal Company and retired in 1995.

Barbara and her husband have enjoyed their retirement years living in their lake front home in Missouri. Barbara loved her family and faith, of which she and her husband were members of the First Baptist Church in Canton. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her husband Ron Taylor of Canton; two sons, Byron (Julie) Thompson of Augusta, Ill., and Dale (Mary) Thompson of Macomb, Ill.; two daughters, Linda (Jay) Cremer of Macomb, and Michelle "Shelli" Moore of Macomb; 10 grandchildren, Marissa (Thompson) Tully, Kelli Riney, Mark, Matthew, and Michael Thompson, Jessica, Jon , and Jordan Cremer, Chelsea and Skyler Moore; five great-grandchildren, William Thompson, Ella Tully, Tucker Thompson, Olivia Cremer and Adalynn Wherley; one sister, Hazel Weaver of Denver, Colo.; several nieces and nephews; two stepchildren, Larry (Barb) Taylor of Canton, and Dan (Donna) Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio; four stepgrandchildren, Beau Taylor, Nikki (Taylor) Savage, Matt Bainbridge, Sara (Bainbridge) Moss; five stepgreat-grandchildren, Jace Taylor, Bleu Taylor, Hadlee Savage, Katelyn Bainbridge and Isaac Moss; two sisters in law,, Judy Bixler of Canton, and Sandy Franklin of Colorado Springs, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Norma Boyles; two brothers-in law, Jack Boyles and Charlie Weaver; one stepson, Mike Taylor; one stepdaughter, Kathy Bainbridge, and one stepgrandson, Bleu Taylor.

SERVICES: Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, in the Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, Ill., with the Rev. Brian Stone and Dr. Howard White officiating.

MEMORIALS: The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials may be made to the Lewis County Nursing Home Auxiliary or Hospice of Northeast Missouri. These may be mailed to or left at Arnold's Funeral Home, 1100 White Street, Canton, MO 63435.
